The leader of Arizona Wine Events and Willcox Wines expressed an interest in wristband technology that would allow his gate team to load wine tastings on a customer’s wristband, thus eliminating the need for customers, vendors, and event organizers to keep track of paper tasting tickets. In addition, he wanted that wristband to be reloadable so attendees could easily purchase more wine tastings at the events. In partnership with the wine festivals, Bandwango was excited to work on a solution for these common challenges at tasting events.

Over the last year, this partner has been part of a beta test that has involved rigorous testing and enhancement as we refined this new event ticketing technology. The result is a new reloadable wristband that’s perfect for wine festivals, beer tastings, foodie events, and more. With a quick scan, attendees can transfer their ticket and wine tastings to a wristband. If attendees want additional tastings, they can easily top off their tastings during the event. We’re now excited to officially roll out this innovative new feature.

How the new ticketing platform for tasting events works 

• Event organizers meet with the Bandwango team to communicate their goals. The Bandwango team builds the ticket(s). 

• Once the tickets are built, the event organizer adds them to their website and attendees can make their purchase. 

• The tickets are sent to the attendee via text and email and include a QR code.

• On the day of the event, organizers and participating vendors log into GoRedeem, Bandwango’s proprietary ticket scanning app. There is a new mode within the app called “Wristband Swap” that the organizer can enable.  

• Upon arrival, attendees show their ticket to event staff, who then scans the QR code. Staff use the app to transfer the tastings from the ticket to a wristband that has a separate QR code. 

• Attendees visit vendors at the event and use their wristband to redeem tastings. Vendors use the GoRedeem app to scan the wristband, which then deducts a tasting from the user’s total number of tastings. 

• Once attendees have run out of tastings, they can visit an area set up by the event organizers to purchase more tastings to be loaded onto their wristbands.

• Is the new wristband technology only for wine tasting events?

No. While this technology was created because of a need that arose from our valued wine tasting event partners, this is a great ticketing platform for any beverage association hosting events. It can also be a valuable resource for food associations that have tasting events, but the use cases could expand beyond that. The wristband technology can technically be used for any type of event that relies on limited redemptions. This could include festivals, fairs, and carnivals that allow attendees access to a certain number of rides or games.

• Can this event ticketing software be used for events of all sizes? 

Yes. Bandwango’s new event wristband technology has been used for small gatherings and events with several thousand attendees.

• Can event organizers create multiple ticket options? 

Yes. Organizers can create as many ticket options as they wish. It’s easy to create tickets that include a varying number of tastings, VIP tickets, and more.

• Do event organizers need to purchase any special equipment to redeem the tastings?

No. Organizers and vendors can download the free GoRedeem scanning app onto their own phones. In many cases, vendors are already using their phones as a point-of-sale tool, so this allows them to do everything with one device.

• Does the ticketing platform let people purchase tickets as gifts? 

Yes. It’s easy to purchase multiple tickets and distribute them to others. Experiences make great gifts, and it’s easy to transfer the tickets to your recipient before the event. The recipient will then show up at the event to receive their wristband.
