Bandwango's Gamified Trails: Earn Points, Redeem Discounts

Erin Griss  |  September 23rd, 2022

Gamified Trails are more consumer-friendly than ever before! Bandwango rolled out an update in September 2022 that factors points into gamified trails. This is a shift from how Bandwango previously managed prizes for gamified trails.

Here’s how points will be managed on Bandwango trails moving forward!

What is the points system?

Within a gamified pass, users will now be able to accrue points when they check-in or redeem discounts at a venue. Users will be able to see the total points they have earned for an organization within their mobile pass and decide how they want to use their points to cash in on prizes.

How do points get allocated?

Each action within a passport will be assigned a point value by the organization building the pass.

Here’s an example!

🎄 Visit Whoville’s Christmas Check-In Challenge:

  • 10 businesses included on the pass

  • Users earn 100 points for each check-in at an included business

  • Users earn 50 points for each redemption at an included business

How do passholders cash in on their points?

In the “Rewards” tab of a Gamified Trail, passholders can see all the prizes available to them and the point values they need to earn in order to claim prizes. Once a passholder has enough points to cash in on a prize, they simply click the “Claim Now” button!

Passholders can also pool their points from all of their different passports in order to win bigger prizes. Prizes might be t-shirts, hats, stickers or higher value items like ice chests, kayaks or art prints.

Here’s an example!

  • Ornament: Requires 500 points

  • Mini Grinch Holiday Tree: Requires 1,200 points

What’s the benefit of using points in gamified trails?

The points system allows your users to have a better understanding of their achievements and highlights the importance of different actions and venues on a pass. Organizations are able to allocate different point amounts to different actions, which makes the pass more customizable.

Here’s an example!

🎄 Visit Whoville’s Christmas Check-In Challenge Points Allocation:

  • Vist Whoville’s Ornament requires 500 points. To claim this prize, passholders must accomplish 5 check-ins (valued at 100 points per check-in) or 4 check-ins and 2 discount redemptions (valued at 50 points per redemption).

  • Vist Whoville’s Mini Grinch Holiday Tree requires 1,200 points. To claim this prize, passholders must accomplish 10 check-ins (valued at 100 points per check-in) and 4 redemptions (valued at 50 points per redemption).

Another benefit of points is that they allow greater flexibility after launch. Post-launch, clients can add prizes and change point value for prizes as needed.
